Sadiq Khan gaslighting about rising crime in London

2026 marks 10 years since Londoners first elected arrogant, self-serving, cretinous little-Hitler Sadiq Khan to the office of Mayor of London, an unfathomable decision that they have since inexplicably repeated twice, in 2020 and 2024.

Khan’s tenure as mayor has been characterised by repeated gaslighting, disrespect for public consultations, and downright lying in order to push his self-gratifying agendas. Whether it be anti-motorist policies such as introducing, and later expanding, ULEZ zones; his deliberate blind eye towards violence and gang rape perpetrated by the Muslim community within his city; or swanning off on foreign trips to meet with other equally egotistical metro mayors from major cities around the globe, Khan has only ever acted with intent to progress his own legacy, even when in direct contradiction to the interests of the residents of the city he is meant to serve.

One piece of extreme gaslighting that the obnoxious little weasel has constantly been guilty of, and which has reared its head again as he pushes to censor social media outlets from allowing his lies to be exposed, is the true and astonishing rise of crime on London streets under his watch.

He has repeatedly claimed falls in knife crime, robbery, theft, and residential burglary, notably stating in August 2025 "robbery, theft, residential burglary and knife crime are down in London". He has placed great stock in Met Police data showing a reduction in homicides in London 2025 (97, down from 109 in 2024), describing it as the lowest number since 2014, and using it as “proof” that London is safe and he is winning the war on crime.

He regularly ties any claims of falling crime to "record funding" for the Met Police, and other measures that he takes credit for implementing, such as the Violence Reduction Unit, and operations targeting specific issues like phone theft or anti-social behaviour.

He is always the first to credit his own actions for  crime statistics that suit his narrative, whilst blaming social media disinformation and the agenda-driven narratives of so-called far-right groups, such as Reform UK, when critics point to the vast evidence of a consistent rise in many serious crimes during his tenure. He also frequently accuses politicians of spreading "misinformation" about London’s safety, and has made bold and often unsubstantiated claims that the evidence shows his approach has "driven down violence."

And yet his claims couldn’t be more detached from the reality of life in London since he took office.

Met Police or Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) data shows the following:

• Theft from the Person (i.e. muggings and aggravated assault) has nearly tripled under his tenure. Incidents—which include pickpocketing and mobile phone snatches, surged from roughly 33,000 annually under Boris Johnson to nearly 100,000 cases per year under Khan.

• Shoplifting has more than doubled, increasing by roughly 109%. The Met registered a record high of nearly 95,000 offences in the year ending June 2025.

• Sexual Offences cases have risen by over 64% over his tenure, climbing to a record high of more than 27,000 recorded instances.

• Robbery incidents have risen by approximately 57% since 2016.

• Knife Crime -related offences have risen roughly 27%, to 72% over his tenure depending on the exact year-on-year baseline. Though knife crime with injury and youth knife assaults have seen drops since 2024, the overarching volume of knife-point threats remains elevated compared to 2016.

Despite the above, in a July 2026 press release from the Mayor of London press office, Sadiq Khan yet again hailed the “overwhelming success” of the initiatives he has launched to tackle crime, stating:

“At the start of the year, we set out the huge strides the capital had made tackling violent crime. Today, I’m really pleased to announce that thanks to my record investment in the Met, the hard work of officers and London’s Violence Reduction Unit, further significant reductions have been made in neighbourhood crime across London.

We know many people online and across the world have been trying to talk London down, but the evidence is clear - London is one of safest global cities in the world, crime is falling and we’ll continue working together to build a safer London for everyone.”

An average of approximately 2,600 crimes are reported to the police in London each day, including c. 760 violent crimes. That is 1.8 crimes taking place every minute across our capital city. Compared to the statistics at the end of Boris Johnson’s time as London Mayor, that is an increase of nearly 600 crimes per day under Khan.

For him to claim that crime in London is falling is very obviously in direct contradiction to the statistical evidence. Facts don’t lie. Sadiq Khan does.

But of course, we are talking here about a man who has repeatedly proven himself to have no conscience whatsoever when it comes to lying to the public. He has been proven to have falsified pollution data during the public consultation into expansion of the London congestion charge (ULEZ) zone in 2024. He also made pre-election promises that the congestion charge zone would not be expanded further, which it then duly was. He denied to the London Assembly in 2025 that there was any evidence of Pakistani grooming gangs operating across London, and yet in October 2025 the Met Police re-opened 9,000 cases into child sexual exploitation in the capital. He also pledged in his manifesto to keep council tax as low as possible and said before the election "I don't intend to raise taxes". Yet that is exactly what has happened in every year of his mayoralty.

The man is a compulsive liar, who is unfit for the office of Mayor and should never have been given a knighthood. He has thrived in a culture that has become too accustomed to rewarding mediocrity, particularly in the public sector, and allied with a liberal media class disinterested in challenging his narrative or his performance in office, lest it distract from their obsessive witch hunts against Nigel Farage and Reform UK.

But the facts are irrefutable. London is LESS safe under Sadiq Khan than it was when he took office. We see clear evidence of this on a daily basis, and the public would be well advised to believe what they see with their own eyes, rather than the lies that they hear from Sadiq Khan’s mouth.
